My Experience With Cloth Diapers

After the birth of my youngest child I decided I wanted to do things differently. I would strive harder to breastfeed, keep him on a routine, practice attachment parenting, and use cloth diapers. My family thought I was crazy for wanting to use cloth diapers. I received plenty of negative feedback, but was determined that this was the best choice for my family. I called up one of my good friends, Lisa, since I knew she had used cloth diapers with her children, and asked her to give me the "401" on cloth diapering. She explained the different types: pre-folds, pocket, all-in-ones, etc., and told me what she used and what was easier for her family, and gave me a list of websites to do some of my own research.

I spent the next couple of days going throughout different websites and examining all that cloth diapering had to offer me. I contacted several websites about their "cloth diaper packages" to see what they had to offer would be beneficial for my family. I re-examined our budget and made a purchase. I started out slowly with pre-folds and then added all-in-ones. It wasn't hard to get started. I just fell into a routine of when I would wash diapers so I wouldn't run low.

Throughout this experience, I must say, that since I've experienced both cloth and disposable diapers, we haven't had but one episode of diaper rash with using the cloth diapers. Here we are two and a half years later, trying to potty train, but still loving our cloth diaper experience.

This experience has helped my family save money and become a more "green" friendly" family. Just think about it....a 16 package of disposable diapers usually runs anywhere from $6 to $12, depending on the brand and the store.....if you calculate how much that will run you over a two year period...cloth diapers pay for themselves within 3 months of using them. Look at how much you would be saving!

I have enjoyed my experience with cloth diapers and I hope you do too!

Introduction

To honestly say, I don't have a clue about how to start a blog, much less how or what to write, so please bare with me as I try out this new "adventure." I will start out by introducing myself and giving a little background information. My name is Johnnia and I reside in West Virginia. I have three beautiful children and an amazing man in my life. This ride, we call life, has taken me through a whirl-wind of adventures; some good and some bad, but in the end it's brought me to where I am today and I wouldn't change anything!

The "blogs" or I like to call them stories or random discussion, will be about everyday life. Events that has happend to myself or other's I know, and sometimes I will write about a topic to discuss....so feel free to give me your comments, thoughts, or advice!

Thank you for visiting my blog!
